The center features exhibition halls, an IMAX theater with a film narrated by Morgan Freeman, and a gift shop. It’s a must-visit spot to explore the history, technology, and global impact of the canal.
Mirador de las Americas
The Mirador de las Américas is a scenic viewpoint located just past the Bridge of the Americas in Panama Oeste. It offers stunning views of Panama City, the canal, and ships passing through. A monument honoring the Chinese community in Panama adds a cultural touch to the site. Though it has few facilities, it’s a peaceful and free spot—perfect for a quick stop with impressive visuals.
Causeway Amador
The Amador Causeway is a scenic roadway that stretches about 6 kilometers into the Pacific Ocean, linking Panama City to the islands of Naos, Perico, and Flamenco. Built using rocks excavated during the construction of the Panama Canal, it offers breathtaking views of the city skyline and the canal’s entrance. The area is popular for walking, biking, dining, and visiting attractions like the Biomuseo and Punta Culebra Nature Center. With its mix of natural beauty and vibrant activity, it’s one of Panama City’s most iconic leisure spots.

Casco Viejo, also known as San Felipe or the Old Quarter, is the historic heart of Panama City. Founded in 1673 after the original city was destroyed by pirates, it features charming cobblestone streets, colonial architecture, and a vibrant cultural scene. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Casco Viejo blends Spanish, French, and Caribbean influences in its buildings and plazas. It was the first permanent European settlement on the Pacific coast of the Americas and quickly became a key hub for trade and expeditions. In 1671, the city was destroyed by the infamous pirate Henry Morgan, and its survivors relocated to what is now Casco Viejo. Today, Panamá Viejo is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, featuring well-preserved ruins, a museum, and a historic bell tower that offers panoramic views of the modern city.
